I wish to say I came up with that great title, but no...it came from the Word of God.
in James chapter 2 tells us about that when people are under the law, if they break one commandment, they break the whole law. In other words, I don't need to be a murderer to be a sinful person, I just need to lie or covet what my neighbor has.
Breaking one command (one of the ten) makes me a sinner over all.
Sounds terrible, and it is terrible!, but the good news, as we all know is that Jesus came to break our bondage over sin, to set us free, and make us new in Him.
Does that mean I can freely sin since I am under the Grace and not under the Law?
well then we need to keep reading the same chapter, where God through James tell us that faith is shown on our own works. We are not saved by works, but works shows if we believed or not.
God is clear that our ticket to Heaven is Jesus, and Jesus only. And the sad part is, must people think that because they believe in Jesus means they are in.
"Not every one who says to me, Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my father" Mat 7.21
The Bible says that if you CONFESS with your MOUTH that Jesus is Lord and believed in your heart (that He was who He said he was) that He died and rose again to cleanse you from your sins you will be save. It is necessary to confess verbally and believe in your heart.
Is that it? then can I move on with my life?
Many would say yes to this, but it is not biblically correct…
"you believe that God is one, you do well; the demons also believe, and shudder, but are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?" James 2:20
Ok, so Faith should be follow by good works, but works it self does not save us. The best works of good people will not take them to heaven if they do not acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
And God is the one that puts in our heart to do good deeds. So Although works will never save us, it shows where our heart really is and if we really meant our confession of faith.
For example, I can say I truly love pandas, and that I am a pro active person to save this endanger creature. I can speak in conferences about it, I can have my t-shirts, my books, my walls filled with posters, but If I go and hunter pandas, My profession means nothing!
It is the same with God. Works do not save me, but they do show where my heart is. If I believe Jesus did die for my sins, and that his death was as horrible as I do know (Hit, mocked, wiped, humiliated and killed on the cross) and that all of that was because of my sins, and that I am thankful for what he did, then It does not make any sense that I will go back to sin deliverely and have peace with that.
How can I say and believe that I love Jesus as my number one, and ignore Him during my day, my week, my life.
How can I say that I care for his guidance as my Lord, and ignore when He speaks (reading His Word- The Bible).
How can I say He is my Lord, believing the Bible when it says that Jesus is the only intercessor and the only way to The Father, and then go to Church and pray to some one else, or saying that He is my only God but kneeling down to a statue or, "emotionally kneeling down" to money, fame or our own family.
(notice that in all of this I say "I")
Now, once I know that Jesus is my Lord, and through love I am trying my best to do everything in a way that it honors Him, whom Saved us even when we where still sinners, then, it is very important to take Grace and Mercy in a new level.
First towards God with gratitude, and the best way of showing gratitude to Him is with our actions, we worship Him not only when we sing at Church, but with our daily lives.
Then the second key to Grace and Mercy is to others, as we receive grace (unmerited favor from God), and Mercy (unmerited forgiveness) we are to be graceful and merciful to others.
Unfortunately, must Christians, including me, seam to pass through a period of "I am good, I am saved...you are not acting as a good Christian", which in short is "being judges". And James is clear that judging is without mercy. And that Mercy triumphs over judgement. So it is important for us to seek to do good deeds as our testimony of the faith we have in Jesus, but it is also important to know that we are not the judges of other people, we are not the regenerators of their actions, that is the Holy Spirit job, and in the past, I have try to take His job, and it is wrong and it never works.
SO let God be God, and you do what you are suppose to do in your life.
And in everything you do, since you have receive grace, Glorify God, Honor Him, and respect His name which you have now, pray for others instead of judging their actions.
May our love for God and others be shown today.
